In Romania there are over 400.000 SMEs which represent an approached market till now, more like the big companies, with quite complex requirements. The insurers must adapt the strategies of drawing of potential corporate clients, to new realities and companies structures from business environment.
The huge potential of this segment of the insurance market was noticed by the Romanian insurers before the accession of our country to the European Union. The sector of SMEs is in a continuum process of development and isn’t long time till to cover a share of two thirds from the economic operators, level similar to the one from EU.
Strategies of drawing the SMEs
„In 2007, Astra-Uniqa launched an innovative product, for the insurance of goods and properties, conceived specially in order to face the Romanian entrepreneurs. This product covers the basis requirements of small and medium sized companies, included in three stages which correspond to the first three development levels of commercial societies”, Gabriela Rusu, director of marketing Astra-Uniqa stated.
The policy assures the standard risks: fire, earthquake, flood, burglary, vandalism, etc, without exceeding the requirements of a SME. The premiums have small values, proposing discounts for the periods of three years and for the years without insured events.
„Our will was to simplify the process of signing an insurance contract. The simplicity of this product represents an answer to the basis needs of SMEs, avoiding the technical and bureaucratically complications. The market advances very well. After a few months from the products’ launch, we’ve signed over 3.000 policies”, Gabriela Rusu added.
Insurances of package type
„The Insurance of „package” type meant to SMEs through which is offered the possibility of signing just one policy for several types of insurances, was launched in 2006 and we took it over from Austria, adapting it of course to the Romanian market“, Letitia Popa, director of marketing Unita VIG explained to us.
The main advantages of such an insurance category consist in the possibility of choosing the types of insurance which is the best protection of the business, a single falling due of the premium shares, reduction of the insurance premium according the package size.
The types of insurances subject for such a package are: buildings, goods and breakable goods, civil responsibility for the third part, power equipment, accidental damages of equipments, financial losses due to interruption of activity by assured risks, cargo-insurance of merchandise during transportation, personal accidents. The main destination of such insurance aims the production companies, the retail, and the hotels industry.
„For every element of the package we have different premium shares. As the package is bigger and comprises several types of insurance, the discount is substantial”, Letitia Popa outlines.
Competitive advantages
The covered risks, the price of insurance packages and the simplicity of signing some policies become the main competitive advantages of the products which address to the small entrepreneurs as from the urban medium as rural. In the moment of starting a business the business people is focused on investments and increasing maintenance. Sometimes, the insurance premiums can become injunctive.
