Romanian holiday destinations. The Peles Castel is on the first position in the top of the most voted destinations from Romania.
In the opinion of the tourists, Bucharest has the most important attractions to offer, maybe also thanks to the development of the business tourism. On the first position in the top of the most popular places that worth to be seen ranks Lipscani, being but for many years in renovation. The foreigners see this area as a passing area "from a glorious past to an uncertain future". You can draw the conclusions but it is obvious the loss we suffer because of the fact that the area isn't valued at its real potential. The Palace of Parliament is on the second position in the top of attractions and it is appreciated, even if it is a "bombastic" building. The Village Museum is on the third position in top-rated attractions, fallowed by Stravopoleus Church and the Peasant Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the The Romanian National Museum of Art. Of course that there are also in top the parks Cismigiu and Herastrau and the malls, too.
What expectations should the tourists have from Romania in generally, and from Bucharest especially? "Generally, Bucharest is safe for traveling. In comparison with many other big cities from Romania, the risks and criminality are low. The pickpockets from the street can also represent a problem, in conclusion the tourists are recommended to be careful at their pockets, situation that can be also faced in the local transport. The tourists are advised to take the subway because the traffic on surface is infernal. Although 99,9% of the Romanians "are wonderful and hospitable and will go out of their way to make you at home in their great country - much more than most Westerners would do!". There are noticed the dishonest taxi drivers at the train or bus station and the airport that overcharge wildly. Or the ones that take the newly arrived traveler to a hostel and kindly taking a week's rent "in advance" from a naive tourist.
There are also the false policemen that stop the tourist by flashing what apparently is an ID card asking for his or her passport and wanting to "check their wallet", that will be hand back empty. The foreign tourists have also met in Bucharest the fraudulent official ticket inspectors which sustain that they are working for local transport company. In this case, the tourists are advised to pay attention and to give the ticket only in certain terms: " Do not count on any compassion from the driver (who may be in on the plot) or other passengers . It is you versus a corrupt system." No comment.
